Support PCUN Oregon with LifeSource Bag Credit Donations
This November, LifeSource is donating to PCUN (Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste). You can help!
What Is PCUN Oregon?
PCUN stands for Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste. PCUN builds a stronger voice for all Latinx working families in Oregon, from farmworkers to young folks, to improve well-being and increase prosperity for all.
Advocating for Oregon Farmworkers and Working Families
Started in 1985 as a union for farm workers, PCUN has been amplifying the voices of unfairly marginalized workers for over three decades. PCUN’s efforts have been instrumental in raising the minimum wage for all Oregonians and ensuring that all children in Oregon have access to healthcare.
Empowering Latinx Communities Across Oregon
Today, PCUN is building a network of Latinx organizations to give Latinx communities the tools to influence policy in order to improve their lives. PCUN’s work is divided into three branches:
Building community through public education and empowering community spaces
Political action and grassroots policy advocacy
Labor union organizing, with a focus on workers’ rights, collective bargaining, and fostering equitable employer-employee relationships
How LifeSource Donations Support PCUN’s Educational Work
Because of the different sorts of work PCUN does, it is incorporated as a 501(c)(3), a 501(c)(4), and a 501(c)(5). LifeSource’s donation will be to the educational, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) side of PCUN. This means that if you keep your receipt, your Bag Credit Donation can be tax deductible when you file your tax return.

How Is LifeSource Supporting PCUN This November?
This November, all of our Bag Credit Donations will go directly to PCUN.
How Do LifeSource Bag Credit Donations Work?
LifeSource credits you 10¢ for each reusable bag you use, and 5¢ for each reusable bulk container. You can keep that credit if you want, or you can choose to direct it to the local nonprofit we’ve selected for the month. This month, it’s PCUN.
Small Donations Add Up to Community Support
It depends how much our customers have allocated in Bag Credit Donations! But those nickels and dimes add up. In September, for example, we donated $988 to Mano a Mano Family Center. As soon as we’ve calculated the previous month’s total, we’ll post it on the big screen above the checkout lanes at the front of the store.
