What is the Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency (MWVCAA)?

MWVCAA is made up of anti-poverty professionals. They are the Marion-Polk area’s leading non-profit social services provider. MWVCAA works to build communities that are empowered to reach positive outcomes and where everyone is respected for their infinite worth.

MWVCAA addresses the symptoms of poverty while also fixing its root causes. These services for eligible low-income residents of Marion and Polk counties include:

  • Energy Services to assist with energy and heating bills.
  • Head Start, providing free preschool and early childhood development services.
  • Youth Services, offering a range of services and programs for youth, including a day shelter with drop-in services and an overnight emergency shelter. While specifically catering to homeless and at-risk youth, all young people in need of a safe space, basic needs, and supportive resources are welcome.
  • The ARCHES Project, helping clients navigate from homelessness to stable housing and better lives. Services include a drop-in day center, emergency shelters during inclement weather, basic support services like laundry, showers, and hygiene kits, as well as housing assistance and eviction prevention assistance.
  • Child care resources and referrals.
  • Reentry Services for those exiting incarceration.
  • Nutrition First, offering support to certified child care providers to provide lower food costs and better nutrition.
  • Weatherization, helping households gain comfort while dramatically reducing gas and electric bills.

Your Bag Credits Make a Difference

How is LifeSource supporting MWVCAA?

This August, all of our Bag Credit Donations will go directly to MWVCAA.

Turn Your Reusable Bags Into Community Support

How do LifeSource Bag Credit Donations work?

LifeSource credits you 10¢ for each reusable bag you use, and 5¢ for each reusable bulk container. You can keep that credit if you want, or you can choose to direct it to the local nonprofit we’ve selected for the month. This month, it’s MWVCAA.

Small Credits Add Up

How much does LifeSource donate each month?

It depends how much our customers have allocated in Bag Credit Donations! But those nickels and dimes add up. In May, for example, we donated $1015 to The Northwest Hub. As soon as we’ve calculated the previous month’s total, we’ll post it on the big screen above the checkout lanes at the front of the store.
