Pasta with Chard and Bacon

With the addition of bacon and fresh chard, this linguine-based pasta recipe can be easily cooked in a dutch oven. It’s perfect for camping trips, or enjoyed right at home.



  1. Cook linguine to al dente, following package instructions. Drain, reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
  2. Cook bacon in a Dutch oven over medium heat until it begins to crisp. Set aside to drain on paper towels. Drain off bacon fat from the skillet, reserving a tablespoon to cook vegetables.
  3. Add onion and chard stems, cook until just soft, about 5 minutes. Add garlic, cook until fragrant, about a minute.
  4. Deglaze pan with white wine, cook and stir until reduced by half.
  5. Add chard greens, pasta water, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Toss until the chard is wilted, about 4 minutes.
  6. Add linguine, bacon, and olive oil to the pot, toss to coat. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
