Oregon Strawberry Season is Here!
Meet the Family Behind Nottinghamshire Farms
Amanda Stevens grew up on her Oregon family farm before meeting her future husband Anthony Stevens while traveling and working on farms in New Zealand. They married and moved to Anthony’s native England for several years before settling back in Oregon. Here they eventually started their own farm. Named for Anthony’s birthplace of Nottinghamshire in the English Midlands, legendary home of Robin Hood. Nottinghamshire Farms is dedicated to organic, sustainable farming practices.
Fresh local strawberries are the first fruit we typically have here in the Willamette Valley, ripening before other early fruits like raspberries and cherries. But not all years are friendly to strawberries. In years with cool, wet springs, strawberries arrive later, perhaps not even until mid June, and lots of rain means less flavorful berries. This year’s sun and warmth, though, is going to be fantastic for sweet, tasty strawberries.
